Mother Mary, Jesus and Joseph!
I thought it was a mower–
thought I was hearing
the common sound of cutting grass.
It is the hottest, most humid day here–
just a few days after the Fourth of July and
my attention is thrown to the front
of our home–street side, here on Elm–
when I see an unfamiliar middle aged man
in worn-out jeans,
a sleeveless buttoned down plaid
extra large, un-tucked shirt
wearing jet black padded motorcycle shades!
There he is, slowly walking down the sidewalk
behind his snow blower, motor full on!
Hell! I begin to wonder if he’s using it like a walker.
Then I think maybe it’s helping him another way–
perhaps he’s thinking snow thoughts
getting ready for next winter–
cool!
