Corwin Freedman is a student at the University of New Hampshire, studying Classics. Originally from upstate New York, he takes inspiration from novels, history, and nature when writing. Of his broadside Freedman shared, “I wrote this poem with inspiration from Japanese imagery, the stylistic choices of Japanese poetry, and the Japanese philosophy of kintsuguri, or golden repair, which in pottery, considers the act of breaking as essential to the history of the piece as the creation. I was washing dishes, while thinking about recent history, and the international and historical context, and this piece came to me after dropping a plate.”
