Joan Hall‘s unique handmade abaca paper is titled ginkgo 3 and was made to accompany Jan Castro’s poem “The Ginkgo Lady.”  She is known for innovative large-scale sculptural installations that reflect her science-based passion for the ocean environment and climate change. Hall uses handmade paper and unique mixed media materials and processes. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including in Japan. She has received numerous grants and awards. The artist lives in Jamestown, RI and is represented by the Childs Gallery in Boston.

Her unique paper will be cut to about 11 x 16″ for the broadside. The jpeg image approximates how the final silkscreen print will look. It is likely that the printed poem will stand out more on the actual paper, and at the same time, will fully become “one” with the unique abaca background.  See
